As each ticking moment gets you closer to the end of this passing year, consider examining just how you typically experience your existence.
Your life, made up of mere moments (1440 in each day, to be exact), appears to fly by, as they say. Or, so it may seem.
Take heed. If you don’t stop, or at least slow down enough to be intentional, these precious little packets of potential get pushed aside by distraction, drama and disillusion.
Consider this. Right now is new!
Your life is not a rerun or a sequel.
This moment is a new release, and is fresh and ripe with opportunity!
Which opportunities, you may ask?
To choose your words wisely. To lead with kindness. To be understanding, flexible, and compassionate.
In other words, to mind your moments lovingly and effectively.
I believe that our personal need to manage or manipulate our moments, to best suit ourselves, is a need to control something, and can be a major deterrent to peace and harmony.
Before you continue, lest you think that I’m writing this today because I’m the master of intentional moments, I must admit that my motivation is based on my own mismanagement of my moments of late, and the emotional imbalance that has resulted.
So, now that you know that we may be in the same boat (or, at least river)..want to do a bit of self-reflection?
Can you bring to mind an event from the past week that you’ve perhaps re-examined, ruminated on, felt shame or remorse about?
Was it a misunderstanding with family or friends?
An oversight, assumption, or unmet expectation?
How might it have been handled differently?
A do-over may not be possible, but if it’s possible, invite clarity and understanding to the situation, to the people involved, in an effort to smooth-over, repair and/or learn the emerging life lesson(s).
ALL of this to say that life is precious. Each one of our daily 1440 moments, is a gift.
Let’s not waste moments in conflict. Let’s find common ground, resolution and deeper connection with one another — all the while, honoring our selves, and our boundaries (yes, that’s another topic, for another day).
Tick. Tick. Tick.
Happy this year, and Happy New Year, friends!
